Romans 5:12-21 The Jesus-Adam Mystery

Paul’s argument or analogy of comparing Adam and Jesus is viewed through four logical phases or elements:

1.         Sin entered the world through one man (v.12a)

2.         Death entered the world through sin (v. 12b)

3.         Death spread to all men because all sinned (v. 12c)

4.         History proves that death reigns over all men (vv.13-14)

Five essential areas of contrast between the condemning act of Adam and the redemptive act of Christ:

1.         The contrast in effectiveness

2.         The contrast in extent

3.         The contrast in efficacy

4.         The contrast in essence

5.         The contrast in energy
