Truths From Romans
Below are a series of
“thesis” statements regarding the book of Romans, which will be brought to
light during our course of teaching through this epistle. There are certainly other statements that
could be made and these will be brought to light as our study progresses. Your
challenge is to identify the verses that address these statements as we
progress through our study of the book.
(A thesis is a statement
proposing a truth that will be explained through academic study and
presentation)
- The book of Romans presents
the gospel of Jesus Christ as the call to a walk of faith for all mankind,
regardless of nature, race, works or any other human factor. Rom 1:5 (call)

- The gospel of salvation is
the revealed righteousness of God imputed (given as a new identity) to us
as a gift to be received by faith. Rom 1:17
(righteousness) Rom 3:21ff (imputed, given
& by faith)
- The phrase “from faith to
faith” means our salvation is entirely by faith. Rom 1:17
- Salvation is effected (accomplished)
through Jesus and is only by the mercy and grace of God. Rom
3:22,24

- The gospel reveals His
purpose for mankind from before the foundation of the world. Rom 1:2, 4:18, 8:28-30
- In this gospel we are shown
that justification is by faith alone, that this justification brings
peace, and that through this peace we have spiritual life, holiness, hope
and victory. Rom 4, 5, 8, 12
- In this faith we obtain the
righteousness of God, which only requires belief and confession. Rom 10:4-11
- Faith comes by hearing the
word preached and the preaching ministry is a calling of God. Rom 10:12-15
- In all ages God has had a
remnant who maintained faith in God.

- In living the Christian life
we are given a measure of faith, gifts of grace and a devotion to the Lord
which we offer up to the Lord as sacrifices of our faith. Rom 12:3-8
- The life of faith is
manifest in the community and the church as well as in strengthening the
